Look what Marta and Lucy have come up with! It's primarily a printed resource that Marta and Lucy have sent to students via their departments, but I'm interested to know how you think we should put it on the website. We could just embed it (as below) but it doesn't really work because on paper it's all folded up. What do you suggest?
I think it should go on the website as it is as students may like to download it - it works just as well pinned up on a wall somewhere.
ReplyDeleteMaybe at a later date it could be reconfigured so that it looks better on a web page - when someone with the expertise has the time to do it?

ReplyDeleteA P Martinich's Philosophical Writing: An Introduction has some good guidelines in it for essays - obviously some of it is only applicable to philosophy but a lot of it is general, and matches some of the advice above (indicating what you are going to be saying at the start of the essay, for example). One tip I've seen is that if the essay is properly constructed, you should have a pretty good idea what the argument is from just reading the first and last sentence of each paragraph.
